UCL is the brainchild of its four principals; South Asian businessman – Mr. Bob Kundanmal, who heads the Sino Lanka Group of Companies comprising of Hotels, Hospitals, International Schools and other ventures; Chairman of Gateway Group of Organisations comprising of a chain of primary and secondary international schools and other ventures – Dr. Harsha Alles; Senior Partner and Managing Director of The Boston Consulting Group Malaysia – Mr. Zarif Munir; and private equity fund specialist and management personality – Mr. Steven Enderby.

The modern UCL campus is conveniently situated in a picturesque location bordering the historical Diyawanna Lake offering panoramic views of the surrounding tranquil environment and central business district’s skyscrapers at a distance. Within its premises, UCL offers state of the art facilities such as internationally recommended classroom sizes for greater student interaction and engagement, modern laboratories, well equipped library and comfortable study areas and a unique rooftop lounge for leisure and recreation of their students. UCL offers a variety of extra- curricular activities including sports such as Basketball, Football, Futsal, Cricket, Rugby, Badminton, Swimming, eSports, etc. and clubs and societies for the benefit of its students. UCL sports teams compete and perform admirably at inter- university sports tournaments. The UCL Student Council has been established to develop leadership skills and empower students to plan, organise, conduct and actively participate in a variety of activities and events, to enhance student engagement and enrich the student experience at UCL.
